About ...
The 'Horowhenua Chronicle' just put our image on the front page of the newspaper, about 30% of the page, and an article about us for about 50% of the page. circulation 2661 readership 6000.[1]
It's quite amusing to read about myself in this way, and when i put 'Levin Stargazers' into google i see my name pop up on dozens of sites in relation to the two IYA awards we received from the 100 Hours of Astronomy task group. Firstly, the Levin Stargazers WON the 'Community Outreach' award and secondly I received a 'Highly Commended' for the 'Most Outstanding individual'. The awards are acknowledged in Rio De Janeiro at the IAU IYA2009 conference, where my Levin Stargazers image and my STARS image takes pride of place in the centre of an A1 poster about NZ astronomy.
Dominion Post called me 'Renaissance Man' (August 2007) and D-Scene called us 'Star Men', (October 2008) Asia Downunder called me an 'astronomer and videographer' and my friends and I 'these three artists' (April 2009). ref 'The Sound of the Skies'
I'm a Public Outreach event manager.
I'm a DOP (Director of Photography) My work is showing on TV3 NIGHTLINE as part of the footage for the New Zealand paint party Illuminate. the footage is from myself and my crew of camera operators. TV3 created a montage of Buzz Aldrin, Snoop Dog and a clip from my footage, and that was their background to enter/exit the story. (The clip aired on the 40th anniversary of the first moonwalk). ref [2] 'Paint parties may be New Zealand's newest trend'
