The 'Horowhenua Chronicle' just put our image on the front page of the newspaper, about 30% of the page, and an article about us for about 50% of the page. circulation 2661 readership 6000.[1] It's quite amusing to read about myself in this way, and when i put 'Levin Stargazers' into google i see my name pop up on dozens of sites in relation to the two IYA awards we received from the 100 Hours of Astronomy task group. Firstly, the Levin Stargazers WON the 'Community Outreach' award and secondly I received a 'Highly Commended' for the 'Most Outstanding individual'. The awards are to be acknowledged in Rio De Janeiro at the next IYA2009 conference, where my Levin Stargazers image takes pride of place in the centre of an A1 poster about NZ astronomy. I'm a DOP (Director of Photography) My work is showing on TV3 NIGHTLINE as part of the footage for the New Zealand paint party Illuminate. the footage is from myself and my crew of camera operators. TV3 created a montage of Buzz Aldrin, Snoop Dog and a clip from my footage, and that was their background to enter/exit the story. The media said "The book teaches the history of Western Science. There is emphasis on leading figures such as Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein. Scientists appear as people along with an introduction to their theories. In all cases the book seeks to make science accessible to students of all abilities. The book features the work of many New Zealand photographers including Wellingtonian Paul Moss. Mr Moss said many amateur photographers watch the sky and take unique photographs. “It is wonderful to see their work in print”. ref [19]

Radio New Zealand called me up for an interview, and they played a few seconds of that on the National News, across the country, at 12:00 on Friday ahead of the Galilean Nights weekend. Its called the Midday Report, and to preserve that I created a video using pics and footage of the weekend, along with my historical sky images, and the Moon and Jupiter images from Maurice Collins, an astro-photographer who took those shots on the actual night that we were out sharing with the public. There is also an astro-photograph of a globular cluster by Steve Chadwick, and all the other images are taken by me. Thanks to Mike and David and Shirley for amazing support, we got over 500 views in the 4 hours we were on th estreet. Thanks to the Sahara Cafe for support and friendship.
SHARING SPACE other events: Galilean Nights 1/ "People from all backgrounds and level of experience are encouraged to organise events, from one person sharing the night sky through a telescope with a small group of neighbours and friends, to large astronomical groups holding large observing sessions in public areas" http://www.galileannights.org/events.html 2/ " Choose a location near your home or a place you like. Coffee houses, cafes and book stores are great places. 3/ " because this year we are doing it on a global scale, reaching audiences which don’t usually seek astronomy. From music concerts, to puppet shows, in spas or prisons, we aim to show the awe of astronomy to young and old, rich and poor alike." http://www.galileannights.org/news.html 4/ " Galilean Nights, will see amateur and professional astronomers, enthusiasts and the public taking to the streets all around the globe" and " by encouraging as many people as possible to look through a telescope" http://www.galileannights.org/about.html 5/ " The focus of the project is sidewalk observations of gas giant Jupiter and its moons, as well as allowing members of the public to observe our own Moon and many more celestial marvels." http://www.galileannights.org/events/event_country_newzealand.html and also at http://www.astronomy2009.org/news/updates/348/ a July 2nd media release.
